Dairy farming has been practised on our farm for several generations. Since natural meadows are the best way to use our land, we try to produce as much milk as possible from our own basic fodder. We have had very good experience with homeopathy in the barn. Thanks to this alternative method of treatment we are able to reduce the use of conventional medicines to a minimum.
Our aim is to make the cows as old as possible. That is why we focus on Brown Swiss cows with a long life span. The young cows are reared in our new playpen. They are allowed to go out to pasture early and never leave the farm. One dairy cow gives birth to a calf every year.
Our type of husbandry enables us to produce veal without the use of medication or concentrated feed. All the calves come from our own farm and therefore no foreign diseases are introduced. Our milk is collected in a large milk tank at the Rüti milk collection centre and then collected by the “mooh”. The Faireswiss project supports us in our efforts to continue to produce cost-covering milk in the future.
Our farm uses the resources and skills of the whole family. So we can count on the valuable support of parents and grandparents. As a farm manager, Marcel is happy about his knowledge as a consultant for emmental-Versicherung. His wife Erna works as a teacher and takes on many tasks in the office area. Also the help of the sons during work peaks is relieving. Her expertise as a polymechanic, carpenter and electrical engineer can always be put to good use.
Our family is always open for new acquaintances. If you would like to try our fresh cow’s milk, please come and visit us.
