Whether breeding insects, baking protein bars or putting our old cheese dairy back into operation: The list of attempts to save my parents’ business is long. After several days in the bakery and an overflowing inbox, I had the brilliant idea: Not only my parents should get their own homepage, but ALL farmers. With Mucca, I have created a multilingual online platform that provides every company – no matter how small – with a profile to introduce themselves and their products and to promote direct sales. Thanks to this independence from intermediaries, farmers should finally have enough money for innovations in the future thanks to cost-covering prices. The goal is a sustainable agricultural policy that does not lead to the closure of three farms per day (!) as has been the case up to now, but that also offers a secure livelihood to families with little land.

Why do we actually pay up to CHF 6 for a Max Havelaar mango from overseas, while Swiss farmers do not even receive CHF 60 for a litre of fresh cow’s milk? And why are there more and more fruits and vegetables that taste like nothing? Who wants to take care of the preservation of our landscape and the many details that make Switzerland unique when all the small farms disappear and the large farms no longer have time to look after the rivers and forest edges? Only with fair prices can we stop this development, so that quality becomes again more important than mass production, which is the result of years of keeping prices down. By buying regional and seasonal products you are not only saving the existence of thousands of farming families in Switzerland, you are also doing something good for your health and the environment.

Buy food directly from farmers near you. Talk to acquaintances about Mucca and contribute to the change in Swiss agricultural policy.

Thank you very much!
