Feusisgarten – a jewel in Feusisberg
Here it is, one of the most beautiful single-lane road in Switzerland! It leads to the Feusisgarten, a former spa hotel in Feusisberg. A gem with a view over the whole of Lake Zurich. The road is a dead end for cars and only residents of the surrounding farms can go any further. It is correspondingly quiet, nature is still intact here and the Feusisgarten is a nearby paradise for walkers. The La Vista restaurant serves Italian specialties - an insider tip for watching the sunset from the terrace.

The building with its special design is known far and wide in the region. It is the last remaining spa house from the 19th century. A time when the village of Feusisberg was known as an air and whey spa. When the building was due to be demolished in 2019 on behalf of an entrepreneur from western Switzerland to build luxury apartments, IG Pro Feusisgarten campaigned with a petition for the Kurhaus to be placed under protection. Since then, peace has returned and the Feusisgarten is still a place of tranquillity where fox and hare say goodnight to each other.

Fresh products from the Feusisgarten
There are many farms in the local recreation area that sell their specialties fresh from the farm. For example, fresh cherries are available in summer. Many of them grow on very tall and old trees. They are varieties that can no longer be bought anywhere. They are dark black, sugary sweet and a real taste bomb. Later, you can also buy plums, apples, pears and, of course, sweet cider directly from the farm.
Respectful cooperation is important. The farmers really appreciate it when their meadows are kept clean and when they don't forget to dispose of waste and pick up dog excrement while admiring the beautiful view. The parasites in dog excrement can lead to the death of other animals if they enter the food chain via the grass. Fortunately, many people are aware of this danger and adhere to the legal obligation to keep dogs on leads. We say THANK YOU!

New project: Feusisgarten spa hotel
A medical centre, 60 hotel rooms, therapy rooms, swimming pool, whirlpool and 18 flats. On 5 July, the Höfner Volksblatt reported on the newly planned project: the Feusisgarten spa hotel (article available here). In collaboration with Christian Eck Architektur GmbH, investors - represented by Sven Schatt (siworks) - want to attract guests from all over the world with the new spa hotel. The restaurant with around 100 seats will remain, but will be moved down one floor to the ground floor. Four further buildings are to be constructed on the newly built-over area, which is around five times larger than the existing building. Around 200 parking spaces will be made available in the basement for spa guests and their relatives, doctors and therapists, restaurant and spa visitors. A barbecue area and a public toilet are also planned.

Objection to the design plan
The new multi-resort does not conform to the zoning, the design plan contains errors and contradictions and important clarifications with directly affected parties were not carried out or were carried out inadequately - for example with regard to water protection or the obvious need to widen the road to two lanes with a pavement. These are just a few of the points that ten directly affected parties criticised about the planned spa hotel, as the Höfner Volksblatt wrote on 24 July 2024 (article available here).
The ten people directly affected are concerned that it will bring more disadvantages than advantages for the local population, e.g. many more people in the village, more traffic, environmental damage due to littering. If the investors have their way, the restaurant for the public, which is currently located on the 1st floor with a magnificent view, will be moved to the ground floor. The 1st floor would then only be available to hotel guests.
IG Pro Feusisgarten also stated in a press release that several versions of the design plan exist, whereby in the officially published design plan, for example, the buildings are wider and roof terraces are to be built. Many of the pages do not correspond to the documents that have been approved by the municipal council and the landowner, and the question arises as to whether fraud or deliberate deception is involved. The Feusisberg municipal council must now examine the objection.
