With an adjacent Swiss Army armoury, there is always something going on on our farm. It has already happened that orienteering runs passed by or soldiers were looking for shelter. Of course we are always happy to help.
Together with my wife Monika, I run a 36-hectare farm in the hills between Gossau and St. Gallen. Agriculture is in our blood: not only my two brothers, but also my two sons Simon and Tobias are passionate farmers. Our main line of business is dairy farming. We are members of the Faireswiss cooperative, which guarantees us a cost-covering milk price. Furthermore we cultivate about 180 high-stem trees with partly very old varieties, which you cannot buy in any shop. Last but not least, we also raise calves. Since 2017 they have been allowed to live in our new frestall barn.
The frestall barn enables us to work efficiently and we can do justice to the animal welfare, which is very important to us. Because we live in a recreational area, we always have a lot of visitors. It is important to us to offer the non-farming population an insight into agriculture. We appreciate this time very much and maintain contact with the consumers. After all, they are the ones who support regional food production with their purchasing behaviour.
If you would like to gain an insight into farm life, try some milk or are interested in our veal, you are always welcome. We sell the meat in mixed packages from 10 kilos upwards. Because we do not slaughter an animal until all parts have been found in buyers, freshness is guaranteed and you will receive the juicy pieces in bags that are already vacuum packed. We look forward to hearing from you!
