From the native dark bee (Apis mellifera mellifera) I own about 80 bee colonies. She has lived here since the last ice age and adapts optimally to the plants and the climate. Meanwhile the bee belongs to the protected varieties of ProSpecieRara Switzerland. The bee is threatened with extinction because it is displaced by foreign, more productive animals (e.g. Carnica or Ligustica bee).
Beekeeping is my passion. In 2009 I decided to take a basic beekeeping course. Afterwards I started my beekeeping with 12 bee colonies. This has grown steadily in recent years. In the year 2014 I acquired the golden quality honey seal. Further trainings followed, so that I can give today basic courses for future beekeepers as well as exercise advisory functions. For the rest of my time, I am also committed to the endangered bees, for example as head of the queen breeding station Bogmen in Schänis SG, a Swiss recognized B document centre for the dark bee.
I would like to sell more of my honey directly to consumers. In the past, I delivered the quality product to a large retailer. Since the purchase is not always guaranteed and the profit lies with the intermediaries, the production is not always cost-covering or does not yield enough profit. That’s why I would also like to focus on direct marketing and go my own way. Even though it is sometimes difficult to find enough customers, I don’t regret this step into the new independence, as the intermediary’s margin of up to 30 percent has now been eliminated.
Honey is not only the oldest sweetener, but also very healthy. In addition to vitamins, honey also contains iron, zinc and magnesium. The natural product has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory characteristics and is therefore very often used in medicine, especially for wound healing. Honey consists of substances that occur in nature and are collected by bees. No chemical substances are added artificially. Regional honey is also often used by allergy sufferers with hay fever.
In my shop you can buy flower honey, summer honey and if nature permits also forest honey. Since forest honey can’t be produced every year, this offer is not always for sale. The honey is available in jars of 250 or 500 grams. There is also the possibility to buy them with a gift box. For large quantities, the jars can even be ordered with a personalised label (e.g. company logo). Various products such as cherries, plums, apples, lime blossoms or tree nuts are also available seasonally at Riedenstrasse 51 in Gommiswald. During the day I can be reached easily at the contact details given and deliveries by post are also possible.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Friendly greetings from your regional beekeeper: Bernet Stefan from Gommiswald
